Values such as decency, loyalty and honor are a strong hold that connects generations. The heraldic motto "Animus liber est" - "The spirit is free" of the Brossok family is a motto for this. Only a free spirit can achieve the necessary development, learn them, pass them on and do them justice. Maintaining these timeless values and the traditions that result from them was the motivation for creating this site.

 Story

The Brossok family comes from Groß Märtinau in the district of Trebnitz in present-day Silesia.

A special feature of the name of the family is that it occurs exclusively within the family. Everyone who wears it is related by blood or marriage to the family. This makes the surname extremely rare. There are currently around 40 bearers of the name still alive in the world.

The family name Brossok = Prussia (name according to origin to Polish Prusak 'Preuße' for a resident of Prussia or for a German in general).

According to the church books, the family can be proven by that at the latest  Year 1730. Daniel Martin Brossok, mentioned in the Trebnitz church books around 1732, is considered to be the progenitor of today's lines.

  Lines and  Houses

There are currently two houses and three lines of the family:

  • The Groß Märtinau house from 1732 with the line of Oldenburg

  • The Neuhof house from 1801 with the Kainowe and Trebnitz lines

However, the Groß Märtinau house with its lines Stolp and Oldenburg emigrated from Hamburg to the USA as early as 1890. They settled in and around New York where they still live today. The Stolp line from the Groß Märtinau house died out in the 19th century.

The members of the Neuhof house with the lines Kainowe and Trebnitz lived in and around Trebnitz, Oppeln and Breslau in Lower and Upper Silesia until 1945. Due to the expulsion from Silesia at the end of the Second World War, the members of the house were distributed throughout today's German federal territory.

  Professions and    Family

Many members of the family are and were academics. From archaeologists to historians and clerics.

Physicians and lawyers are exceptionally often represented in the Neuhof line. Officials and soldiers are also often represented to this day.

The Brossok family is related and/or related by marriage to:

  • the merchant family von Eisenecker from Nicolai/Upper Silesia

  • the Silesian aristocratic family of those von Schweinichen

  • the Neugebauer family of entrepreneurs from Silesia

  • the Köllmer/landlord family Vorreiter from Beuthen-Tarnowitz in Silesia.
